The Crying Room
Poem and Lyrics by Lisa Rafel
Music “Autumn Stillness” by Gary Malkin
Sometimes I feel gray, stagnant, sad.
My tears are ready but cannot come.
My thoughts,
Blocked by the grief of if,
“if only”,
Are stuck in a dark well.
There is no forward,
In a grey world.
But if I soften, trust my tears know what to do,
Trust my sobs will not become deafening.
If I soften, let the ripples run through me…
Though my feet are unsteady,
Maybe that rush of air that comes between sobs,
Will be kind.
I will soften,
Breath,
Open my tears,
Breath,
Let the waters come.
I will let them come.
